Answer engine optimization

AEO audit for one page

Answer engines can only use a page they can fetch and read. This free AEO check looks at retrieval, search-crawler policy, noindex, snippets, and whether the page clearly states the product, service, or question it answers.

Free single-page audit. The report includes SEO checks plus AI search readiness. No ChatGPT ranking guarantee.

How AEO shows up in the report

After the scan, open the AI search readiness section. Access problems (blocked robots, noindex, challenge pages) appear as issues. Weak or generic headings appear as heuristic recommendations. Google eligibility stays unverified until you connect Search Console.

GEO is the sister topic: generative engines quoting or citing a site. We cover that on the GEO audit page. Both run in the same free report as your SEO checks. See the combined AI search readiness overview and the methodology.

AEO-relevant checks

Page retrieval

Status, redirects, final URL, content type, and login or challenge responses.

Search-crawler policy

robots.txt for this path against Googlebot, OAI-SearchBot, and PerplexityBot.

Indexing directives

Meta robots and X-Robots-Tag, including contradictions.

Snippet restrictions

nosnippet, max-snippet, and data-nosnippet on visible copy.

Canonical consistency

Declared canonical versus the final fetched URL.

Readable main content

Whether the title, H1, and answer exist in the initial HTML.

Google eligibility

Owner Search Console data when connected; otherwise not verified.

Page purpose

Heuristic: does the page state its product, service, or question?

Readiness checks do not guarantee inclusion in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews. This is a single-page technical and content audit, not a citation rank or GEO score.

AEO questions

What is an AEO audit?
An answer engine optimization audit checks whether a page can be retrieved and understood as an answer. SEO Scrapper looks at HTTP access, search-crawler robots rules, indexing directives, and whether the H1 and first paragraph state the page purpose.
Is AEO different from SEO?
They overlap. If Googlebot or a search bot cannot fetch the URL, or the page is noindexed, it is also a weak AEO page. We do not invent a separate AEO score. We report measured checks and heuristics.
Will this put me in featured snippets or AI Overviews?
No tool can promise that. This audit finds access and clarity issues that can stop a page from being eligible. Inclusion still depends on the query, the engine, and time.
